Zohra, receptionist, Geneva
Who are you, in a few words?
I am 32 years old and currently work as a receptionist for a luxury watch brand. I’m also a PhD candidate in management, specializing in the luxury sector. My first and lasting passion is aviation. This situation reflects a reality still too common across many industries: some roles are still perceived as male-dominated. However, things are evolving, and women are increasingly making their mark through determination and skill.
What motivated you to join Protectas?
Joining Protectas felt like a natural decision, as it aligned with several key aspects that matter to me.
The company offers valuable flexibility, allowing me to balance my professional and personal commitments effectively.
Beyond that, it offers a work environment that reflects my own values: structured, with a strong foundation of rigour, reliability, and service-mindedness. These principles are deeply rooted in the culture of Protectas and resonate strongly with my professional mindset.
I also find it very rewarding that Protectas enables me to grow within the luxury sector, which aligns closely with my academic background. This experience provides a unique opportunity to understand the demands and dynamics of this environment while maintaining a professional approach that meets its high standards.
Can you tell us about your beginnings at Protectas?
I joined Protectas a year and a half ago and quickly realised that the company stands out thanks to its values of attentive listening, responsiveness, and a genuinely human approach. These values are evident in every interaction and help create a structured, supportive, and truly authentic work environment.
What are you currently responsible for?
As a receptionist, I am responsible for welcoming and directing visitors, handling phone calls, and supporting administrative tasks.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy the variety of tasks and the richness of human interactions – both internally and externally.
The balance between communication, administrative duties, and coordination gives this role a dynamic and fulfilling character.
On top of that, working in a refined, fast-paced environment demands strong organisation, attention to detail, and adaptability – all of which make this role as enriching as it is challenging.
What is your biggest challenge, and how do you manage it?
One of the main challenges in a receptionist role within the luxury industry is finding the right balance between high expectations and spontaneity. It’s essential to maintain a professional yet flexible approach to ensure both rigour and warmth.
Which value resonates most with you, and why? (Integrity – Vigilance – Helpfulness)
Integrity. Honesty, uprightness, and a strong sense of ethics are central to how I conduct myself day-to-day.
Even though it may not always be visible, integrity builds trust and respect – which are vital foundations, both in professional and personal life.
I am deeply attached to structured environments, and I see this value reflected daily, both at Protectas and within the watchmaking company I work with. Integrity is a cornerstone there – ensuring confidentiality, reliability, and respect for procedures. These are crucial expectations in any environment where precision and trust are fundamental.
How does it feel to work as a woman in your profession?
I currently work in a mostly female environment, which flips the question: how can we encourage more men to work in a field often seen as feminine?
Ultimately, the reflection remains the same: how do we overcome gender stereotypes and open traditionally gendered sectors so that everyone can find their place legitimately?
To answer directly – working in a male-dominated environment takes confidence, determination, and an unwavering sense of purpose.
What advice would you give to women who want to work in the security industry?
“Believe in your abilities and never let yourself be boxed in by stereotypes. Only your goals matter.”
Rigor, professionalism, and self-confidence are qualities that transcend gender.
Every woman has her rightful place in this field – just like in any other. What matters is to affirm that place with calm, conviction, and competence.
