Marius Lachaise, Supervisor of the Mobile Brigade, Geneva

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

My name is Marius, I'm 29 years old, and I'm entering my 10th year with Protectas. I’d describe myself as versatile, curious, and eager to learn. I enjoy learning—but above all, I like to understand how things work.

What motivated you to join Protectas?

My initial plan to join the military didn’t work out due to medical reasons. So I turned to private security, and Protectas stood out as one of the sector leaders in Geneva. That’s what convinced me to apply.

Can you tell us about your early days at Protectas?

I started as a patrol officer. That role helped me discover the world of security and get used to working night shifts. My tasks mostly involved doing control rounds at client sites and responding to alarms.

I liked the job, but the irregular hours were a real challenge. I had to reorganize my personal life to maintain some level of social and sports activities and keep a healthy lifestyle.

Physically, it’s a demanding job, and I knew from the start it wouldn’t be a long-term career path. That said, those years were formative and allowed me to grow significantly.

What are you responsible for today?

I’m currently the Supervisor of the Geneva Mobile Brigade, reporting to the Branch Manager. We oversee around 100 officers, including six managers I work closely with.

To sum up my role: I’m responsible for the quality of our services, their profitability for the department, and the conditions under which they are delivered.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

No day is ever the same, and each one is enriching.

I feel useful, challenged every day, and I learn a lot.

I need intellectual stimulation and to find meaning in what I do. My job ticks all the boxes!

What’s your biggest challenge and how do you deal with it?

Managing to clearly separate work from personal life is a challenge.

I often end up extending my workday or staying mentally involved after hours.

To deal with that, I’m learning to better organize my time, delegate more, and accept that I can’t do or control everything.

Which core value speaks to you most and why? (Integrity, Vigilance, Helpfulness)

I place great importance on integrity, both professionally and personally.

In our field, the trust contract between the client and Protectas is key to a lasting collaboration—and that always requires integrity from our officers.

What advice would you give to women interested in working in security?

This question bothers me a bit, because it implies that women have less of a place in this field than men.

While that might have been true for a long time, we’re no longer in an era where being a security officer means being 6'5" and 100 kg.

However, the kind of support someone needs may differ depending on the challenges they face.
