A mother’s distress triggers the alert

In the morning, while carrying out their usual duties, our agents were approached by a panicked mother. Tearful, her voice broken by fear, barely standing, she explained that her baby was unresponsive. Without hesitation, the agents rushed to her side.

The father was holding the lifeless infant. The child’s face was blue, and the body appeared motionless. The signs were clear: acute respiratory distress, marked cyanosis (bluish skin coloration due to lack of oxygen), and partial loss of consciousness.

One agent immediately took the baby, laid him down carefully, and began first aid measures. Every second counted. Meanwhile, the other agents raised the general alarm: medical emergency services and law enforcement were called.

A smooth and effective chain of intervention

The agents moved the family to a quieter area to secure the intervention. Reinforcements quickly arrived: border police, emergency doctor, cantonal police, and rescue services. All converged on the infant to provide aid.

On site, actions were synchronized: the child was cared for, the parents were supported, and the perimeter secured. Amid apparent chaos, a well-oiled machine started running calmly, professionally, and with great humanity.

A happy outcome thanks to good coordination

Thanks to the swift and coordinated response of Protectas agents, medical teams, and security forces, the infant was stabilized. He began breathing again and his color started to return. An urgent transport to the Zurich Children’s Hospital was arranged for further examinations and monitoring.

    The strength of cooperation

This event highlights the vital importance of vigilance on the ground. It also shows the value of close collaboration between all actors: private security, medical services, and authorities.

In the face of the unpredictable, responsiveness, composure, and teamwork make the difference.

That day, officers Krasnic, Altay, and Shala saved a life.
