Jérôme Galland, Retail and Mobile Supervisor, Lausanne
Who are you in a few words?
My name is Jérôme Galland. My educational background is modest, but I have always prioritized learning in the field. I was a volunteer firefighter from 1999 to 2005, then completed an apprenticeship in masonry before serving in the army from 2005 to 2010. What defines me is my commitment and my passion for a job well done. I am a man of the field, curious, dedicated, who likes to make tangible progress and work as part of a team.
What motivated you to work at Protectas?
At the end of my military contract, I wanted to stay in the security sector. My brother, who worked at Protectas Aviation, told me about the company and made me want to join. I was drawn to the company’s values and the opportunities for advancement it offers. I wanted to join an organization where I could bring my experience, continue learning, and work as a team.
Can you tell us about your beginnings at Protectas?
I started at Protectas SA in Geneva as an auxiliary agent, carrying out various occasional missions, including protecting inspectors in Geneva’s public transport system. In 2011, I joined the Mobile department with a professional contract and started performing patrol and intervention missions.
What are your current responsibilities?
Since January 2024, I have held the position of Supervisor. I support my Branch Manager with the Retail and Mobile services for the canton of Vaud. I have also taken on part of the commercial and IT activities, especially the management of certain tools. From August 1st, 2025, I will take on the role of Operational Manager under the branch director’s leadership.
What do you like about your job?
What motivates me every day are the challenges: whether it’s acquiring new contracts, strengthening teamwork, or maintaining the quality of existing services while offering new things to employees. I like seeing projects move forward and supporting teams in their success.
What has been your biggest challenge and how do you handle it?
My main challenge for a long time was not having a traditional educational background. This could have been a barrier in some very academic environments. But I turned this difficulty into a strength: I train on the job, I observe, I ask questions, and above all, I practice. I make up for this with hard work, curiosity, and a constant desire to learn.
Which value resonates most with you and why? (Integrity, Vigilance, Helpfulness)
Integrity, without hesitation. Being honest means doing things seriously and with sincerity, even when no one is watching. It means respecting your commitments, colleagues, and clients. For me, integrity is the foundation for building trust. And without trust, we can’t move forward.
What advice would you give to women who want to work in security?
I would tell them not to be held back by preconceived ideas. The security sector may have had a somewhat "macho" image, but things are changing, and it’s thanks to the presence of women that this is happening. Security isn’t just about strength: it’s also about composure, vigilance, and communication. These are qualities that many women have. So my advice: dare, assert yourselves, and bring your perspective, your skills, your way of being. The sector will be all the better for it.
