Eduardo Barradas Ratado, Staff Planner Deputy Manager, Geneva

Who are you in a few words?

My name is Eduardo, but at work everyone calls me Eduard. I entered the security field in 2006 after completing apprenticeships as a sommelier and in sales management. I love drawing and own one of the largest video game collections in Geneva, with over 1,300 titles.

What motivated you to join Protectas?

The main motivation was the job itself. I had worked as a temporary agent during G8 events and enjoyed the interaction with people and the feeling of being useful to society.

I also knew that Protectas prioritizes internal growth, which offered me real career opportunities.

Can you tell us about your beginnings at Protectas?

I started in the International Organizations department. We had just won the ICRC contract, and I was hired as an auxiliary agent for this mandate.

Soon, I obtained a professional agent contract and, after six years, became site manager.

This experience allowed me to gain a wide range of security skills and obtain the federal certificate.

    What are your responsibilities today?

I am deputy manager in the planning service for Region 2. We are a team of six planners, and our responsibilities include:

    • Checking all schedules created by field supervisors,
    • Entering all client orders into the software for billing and planning,
    • Supporting department heads in balancing human resources,
    • Covering ad-hoc assignments, especially during major events like Watch & Wonders, where we are present for the entire duration of the event.

What do you enjoy about your job?

I enjoy the pace of the day and the responsibility of being at the heart of an essential part of the company. We collaborate daily with all Protectas services to ensure client satisfaction.

What is your biggest challenge and how do you handle it?

Each day is different and requires adapting to often unpredictable human situations. In planning, we must balance client satisfaction, legal compliance, and proper staffing for assignments.

To manage this complexity, I rely on strict organization, clear communication, and anticipating needs whenever possible. This allows me to remain effective even in unforeseen situations while ensuring quality and compliance.

Which value speaks to you the most and why?

Integrity speaks to me the most. Without it, vigilance and helpfulness lose their meaning. Our clients entrust us with the security of their assets and employees, which demands total trust. Integrity means acting honestly and consistently, even when no one is watching. This attitude strengthens the credibility of our service.

What advice would you give to women who want to work in security?

I would tell them not to hesitate. Today, women have a full place in this profession. Yesterday’s prejudices no longer apply. Often, women can defuse certain conflicts more easily thanks to communication and diplomacy. Security is based primarily on human skills, and these qualities are not determined by gender.
